1980年10月，John Lennon退隱歌壇五年之後決定復出

他選擇了這首頗具意義的歌"Starting Over"作為復出第一首單曲

這首歌很快就在排行榜獲得很好的成績

然而，悲劇性的發展卻是在這首單曲推出6個星期之後

John Lennon在自家門口遭到一位精神失常的歌迷射殺身亡

而這首歌再3周之後同時登上英、美排行榜冠軍

然而，這份榮耀或是喜悅John Lennon再也感受不到

對於聽到這首歌的人，留下的也是無盡的感嘆及哀傷

相對於歌名"Starting Over"，真是極大的諷刺

而歌詞中說到"Why don't we take off alone? Take a trip somewhere far, far away..."

確實地，他一個人啟程到了另一個很遠的地方

雖然是如此心碎的故事，我還是很喜歡這首歌

因為當John Lennon寫下這首歌的時候
